About that Star Wars comment…
Some people may have taken that jab at artists using pop-culture icons in art a little too seriously.
a few things.
I am entitled to my own opinion…but I am not an elitist. I think there is plenty of room in the sandbox for everyone to play their own game. This includes work that I may not be a fan of. Basically, I love to see progression, new things that surprise me, not constant waves of redundancy…that’s me, that’s what I like. I like Vanilla ice cream. same thing, it’s a preference.
All work is derivative of something, and without movies like the Dark Crystal, Dragonslayer AND Star Wars, my work would not exist. In fact, I LOVED Star Wars, probably to an unhealthy degree.
This isn’t an apology for having an opinion, or to defend my position…just a clarification that it was a statement based on personal preference…not whether or not it was “valid” or “bad”.
I like Vanilla Ice Cream.
